Your role
In this position, you will be dealing with embargoes by screening both transactions, and client data. Conflict zones, totalitarian regimes and terrorist financing are regularly in the news. In this context, the international community applies financial and trade embargoes against certain countries and individuals, violating human rights, the international rule of law and world peace. Financial institutions play an important role in this, as they must ensure, that all possible transactions are carried out and customers are served without violating those embargoes. Relations between countries are becoming increasingly complex, and so do embargo provisions. These are only increasing in numbers, content and complexity. Therefore the Group Compliance Embargo Team is following up on new and/or amended embargo provisions and converting them into internal guidelines and requirements for the ex ante screenings of both transactions, and customer files. And as an embargo investigator you are then mainly working on the second-line handling of the (ex ante) alerts related to the screenings of payments and customer data. This should help ensuring that sanctioned persons and entities are known as such in our systems and that no payments are made in violation of embargo provisions. Your daily tasks also include practical and case-oriented advice on screening payments and clients. If you are an interested and motivated do-it-all, then you are the colleague we are looking for.

Profile
- You preferably have a master's degree (or equivalent through experience)
- Several years of experience is a plus:  within compliance, audit or a legal department in a financial internal institution, a law firm and/or an external audit firm
- Office experience (both retail and corporate) is a bonus
- Next to Dutch, a very good knowledge of English is a must, as a lot of texts wrt. Embargoes are written in English, as well as our internal procedures.
- Speaking French is an added-value.
- Very good analysis and synthesis skills, allowing you to quickly handle embargo alerts
- You are fluent in current Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) and interested in the in-house tools
